When I started to write The Breaking Point last year, I didn't know what to expect. Would anyone find it useful? Would anyone care?
Well, it turns out that a lot of you cared quite a lot! Writing these posts has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my career, reaching far more people in far more profound ways than I could have ever hoped. I appreciate all of the notes I have received about how the frameworks and strategies we discuss here have accelerated your companies and careers.
Today we have thousands of people reading these posts. As I get more questions and comments, I realize that there is an opportunity to go even deeper than I can today. There is so much happening in technology and business right now, and much of it makes more sense when you view it through the lens of leadership that we talk about here. I love writing, and would love to spend more time exploring these topics.
So, I’m going to make some improvements to The Breaking Point!
First, many of you have requests for topics or questions on things we’ve discussed. I’ve set up a form to make it easier to make these requests in the future, as I want to write about what you want to read! Please submit questions and requests early and often.
Second, I’m going to start a series of long form essays on the technology industry which I’ll post here using the title “The Breakdown”. These posts will analyze changes and decisions using the frameworks we talk about in most of the posts here and will come out at least every month, and more often as time permits. These will be in addition to the current posts, so you get even more from The Breaking Point!
Finally, to help support more writing I’m going to add a subscription option to The Breaking Point to help expand our topics and discussion to go even deeper. If you become a paid subscriber, you will get access to:
Support the newsletter in general, and help me write more often. The more subscribers we get, the more often I can write and the deeper we can go. Every bit helps!
The templates and worksheets that I use to implement most of the frameworks we discuss in the newsletter. I get a lot of requests for the tools I used to implement these processes and I’ll share them with you to make it easier to adopt.
Some original art that captures the leadership experience. I’m working on an original art book and you’ll get the first looks at all of the pieces that will eventually go into the book. It turns out I can do more than just cartoons!
Note that most of you can probably expense the cost of the newsletter with your employer, just check with them first!
If you don’t want to pay, no worries! Nothing will change for you, you’ll still get weekly posts (with cartoons!) about how to make better decisions and improve as a leader. You can also support the newsletter without paying anything by recommending it to others, and liking/sharing posts that you find useful. The more you share, the more subscribers we have and the more time I can spend on writing. Everyone wins.
Finally, here are some quick answers to questions I am getting all the time:
Yes, I draw all the cartoons myself. I’m glad you like them!
Yes, you can absolutely suggest topics. I set up a form to make it easier for you to do just that.
No, I don’t know why my sense of humor is so offbeat. It just is!
Thank you for your support. I appreciate the opportunity we have here, and I aspire to make The Breaking Point an even better resource for you in your leadership journey.
Cheers,
Sean
